• Social Worker - Grade 2 / PAPU (Psychiatric Planning and Assessment Unit • Permanent Full Time Position
About Peninsula Health Peninsula Health provides public healthcare services to residents of the Mornington Peninsula.
Our hospitals and emergency departments are located at Frankston and Rosebud, and we provide a wide range of community health, dental, rehabilitation, mental health, palliative care ad aged care services from campuses at Frankston, Hastings, Mornington and Rosebud.

The PAPU is a 6 bed 24 hour, 7 days a week mental health short stay assessment and planning unit that provides accelerated access to specialist psychiatric assessment and short term treatment to better address planning and partnering support arrangements for the client back in the community on discharge.
We are currently seeking a Social Worker, Grade 2 to join our supportive and dynamic team.
Key Responsibilities - Provide quality focussed care, to patients and their families/carers through competent clinical assessment and discharge planning skills. - Provide effective communication including a high level of verbal and nonverbal and documentation skills. - Provide expert supervision of professional staff and students. - Provide mentoring for Grade 1 Social Work staff. - Able to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team. - Demonstrate advanced assessment/counselling skills. - Demonstrate experience and interest in continuous quality improvement. - Contribute to educating and raising awareness of the Social Work role within Peninsula
Essential Criteria • Member or eligibility of the AASW • Clinical understanding of the treatment for Mental illness provided in-patient and community settings • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team • Excellent skills in comprehensive psychosocial assessments, discharge planning and counselling • Advanced demonstrated knowledge and application of Social Work theory and recovery orientated practice • Demonstrated skills and good working knowledge of community support services • Ability to manage a demanding work load and effectively prioritise tasks • Computer literacy • Commitment to continued professional development • Demonstrated working knowledge and understanding of the Victorian Mental Health Act 2014, the National Standards for Mental Health Services 2010, Desirable Criteria • Previous experience in Mental Health • Previous Hospital Experience • Current drivers licence
