About our Work Experience Program Peninsula Health is proudly relaunching their Work Experience program and offering a limited number of secondary school work experience placements. This is to provide students on the Mornington Peninsula in years 10 to 12, with the opportunity to observe and learn about the range of career pathways in Health.
Students accepted into the program are given the opportunity to spend a maximum of one week (five consecutive working days) within an available department to observe the daily activities that occur.
Who can apply for the work experience placements? • Year 10, 11, or 12 students at Secondary School who are enrolled in the work experience program at school • Seeking a placement between June and November 2023 • Are interested in pursuing a career in Health • Are currently studying relevant subjects to support entry into tertiary study
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Secondary Students are strongly encouraged to apply.
What areas of the hospital can students apply for work experience? Peninsula Health offer placements in the areas listed below. Upon application, students have the opportunity to request the area you are interested in. Peninsula Health requires successful work experience students to be supervised, therefore placements are subject to availability.
• Physiotherapy • Occupational Therapy • Speech Pathology • Administration • Human Resources • Corporate Services • Medical Services • Pharmacy • Nursing / Midwifery
How many work experience students are accepted? Places are "strictly limited" due to availability, therefore Peninsula Health cannot guarantee placement for every applicant. All applications are reviewed and available placements will be given to those who can demonstrate a strong interest to pursue a career in health, good academic results and to those who are enrolled in appropriate subjects to support entry into tertiary study.
Please note: Peninsula Health is currently only accepting applications for placements between June and November 2023. Applications will only be accepted during the intake period, and must be made online via mercury e-recruitment.
How to apply 1. Click on Apply 2. Review and complete the Work Experience Application form 2023 The application form can be found below under "position description" section in this advertisement. 3. Create a profile or log in 4. Answer all the questions 5. Upload your completed application form under 'other' and your resume under 'resume' 6. Don’t forget to select submit at the end
How will I know if I have been successful? All students who have applied will be contacted by the People and Culture department via email in due course following the advertising period.
Please note: To be considered for a placement, students must upload a current resume and completed Work Experience Application Form. Peninsula Health are unable to accept late or incomplete applications.
Peninsula Health also reserves the right to cancel a work experience placement at any time.
