Position Summary

An exciting opportunity exists for an Adolescent Family Violence Service Worker to work within the Community Health team. This is a part time or full time temporary position (hours are negotiable), located in Frankston, with Outreach across the Mornington Peninsula Shire and City of Frankston, and also with Orange Door in Frankston.Staff may be required to work across other Community Health sites to meet program needs. The work is varied with a mixture of individual and group work.

Applications are sought from experienced counsellors who are either fully registered Psychologists or Social Workers with eligibility for membership with the AASW, Family Therapists, or with other relevant degrees and or experience. Knowledge of trauma intervention, including family violence, is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• To assist the Orange Door in the intake of referrals involving Adolescent Violence in the Home.
• Consult with, and provide secondary consultation to Orange Door practitioners, regarding referrals involving Adolescent Violence in the Home
• Implement a family violence risk assessment and management process in line with the Best Interest Care Practice Model utilizing DHHS practice guidelines and minimum standards for family violence practitioners.
• Provide intensive case management to adolescents and their families including outreach strategies, including attendance at planning meetings.
• Co-facilitate group work interventions that work concurrently with the young person and their parent/carer.
• Provide a range of interventions to support positive change, including harm minimisation in relation to alcohol and drug use.

Selection Criteria Essential: Tertiary qualifications in a related field such as Psychology, Social Work, Family Therapy or other relevant qualifications and experience.
Essential: Demonstrated experience and understanding of working with at risk and vulnerable young people and their families - casework, counselling etc. and in assessment and response to family violence, alcohol and drug use and mental health risk.
Essential: Demonstrated experience in group facilitation, preferably with young people
Essential: Demonstrated experience in working both independently and as a part of a multi-disciplinary team, with the ability to work effectively, supportively and flexibly.
Desirable: Familiarity with the Common Risk Assessment Framework Tool and Assessing Children and Young People Experiencing Family Violence practice guide
Desirable: Demonstrated understanding of the Integrated Family Violence System and the under-pinning principles of Family Violence interventions
