Peninsula Health provides public healthcare services to residents of the Mornington Peninsula.

Our hospitals and emergency departments are located at Frankston and Rosebud, and we provide a wide range of community health, dental, rehabilitation, mental health, palliative care ad aged care services from campuses at Frankston, Hastings, Mornington and Rosebud.

Peninsula Health is the major health care provider serving the metropolitan and rural areas on Victoria’s beautiful Mornington Peninsula. Peninsula Health covers communities in the local government areas of Frankston, Mornington Peninsula and part of Kingston. It covers a bayside area bordered by Chelsea/Edithvale to the north, Langwarrin and Hastings to the east and Flinders and Portsea to the south. The catchment area encompasses approximately 900 square kilometres and a population of approximately 300,000.

Position Summary

The Peninsula Health Mental Health Service aims to provide timely and equitable access to a quality service. It actively supports and encourages Consumer and Carer participation in all aspects of planning and delivery of services.

Peninsula Health Mental Health Service is strongly committed to providing an outstanding training experience across all the years of training. We provide a supportive and collegiate atmosphere that ensures all training needs are met.

The Psychiatry Training Program at Peninsula Health addresses all the mandatory training requirements of Stage 1, 2 and Stage 3 Generalist training with the opportunity to undertake Advanced Training in Adult Psychiatry and Psychiatry of Old Age.

The rotations available to Registrars are:
- Adult inpatient and community
- Aged Persons Mental Health inpatient and community
- Consultation Liaison Inpatient Psychiatry Service (CLIPS)
- Child and Adolescent Mental Health (through Monash Health)
- Headspace (through The Alfred)
- Adult Rehabilitation: Community Care Unit (CCU) and Adult Prevention & Recovery - Centre (A-PARC)
- Youth Mental Health Team
- Psychiatry Assessment and Planning Unit (PAPU)
- External rotations: Interested Registrars are able to access external rotations in Forensic psychiatry and Perinatal psychiatry as well.

A comprehensive education program is offered in addition to 5 hours per week protected time to attend the formal education course. The program includes individual supervision, weekly journal club, lecture series, exam preparation tutorials, psychotherapy tutorials and supervision.
