Peninsula Health Mental Health Service (PHMHS) is seeking to attract a Consultant Psychiatrist into a community multi-disciplinary team leadership position within its service.

The position will work closely with the Head of Adult Psychiatry and Clinical Director to further high standards of clinical governance and leadership around Mental Health Act compliance, patient flow, service quality, and service improvement in the inpatient units.

The position will also work closely with the Nurse Unit Managers of the Adult Mental Health inpatient unit and the Psychiatric Assessment and planning unit to ensure safe, effective, and cohesive multi-disciplinary care is delivered across the adult inpatient units.

You will become part of a strong culture of medical leadership within the multidisciplinary environment and supported to be part of a growing research and evidence generating approach to care.

What You Will Be Doing

• Provide high quality evidence based clinical care within the designated scope of practice
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement by monitoring services and practice, and taking a leadership role in policy and process development.
• Lead and manage junior medical staff to achieve optimum outcomes.
• Ensure patient flow is managed in a predictable manner.
• Maintain high performance in least restrictive care.
• Be aware of and work in accordance with organisational policies and procedures.

What You Need

We anticipate you will have:
• have Fellowship of the Royal Australasian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists.
• have a demonstrated working knowledge of the Victorian Mental Health Act 2014.
• are a Medical Practitioner registered in Australia.
• have relevant specialist experience with a track record in clinical management (desirable).
• have the ability to work as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team.
