What You Will Be Doing

The Keeping Families Safe Practitioner works in collaboration with other team members to provide specialist Adolescent Family Violence In The Home (AVITH) interventions for young people aged between 12 -18 years, and/or other family members, where the family lives in the Bayside Peninsula catchment and the young person is using abusive behaviours within the family. The KFS role can include triage and assessment, AVITH group work, AVITH focused interventions including limited individual and/or family work, case management and consultation to increase safety and reduce the risk/harm to adolescents and their families. Outreach work and inter-agency collaboration is integral to this position.
The KFS Practitioner reports operationally to the Team Leader of Family Violence and is also supported clinically by the Senior Clinician KFS (Social Worker). The role sits within the Peninsula Health Family Violence Service.


What You Need

We anticipate you will have:
• A relevant graduate qualification in Social Work or related social sciences (in accordance with Rec 209).
• Social Workers must be eligible for membership of the AASW with demonstrated positive outcomes in supervision and consultation.
• Experience in family violence triage, risk assessing and safety planning with adolescents and family members.
• Demonstrated skills and experience in group facilitation for adolescents and/or families, case management, individual and/or family work, as well as care team participation and inter-agency collaboration.
• Demonstrated ability to work well with adolescents and their families in relation to risk and/or harm, including the use of family violence.
• Good understanding of current research-based knowledge of adolescent development, including emerging issues of concern for adolescents and recommended therapeutic practice approaches.
• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as an effective a team member.
• Commitment to continuous quality improvement and up to date, evidence-based professional practice.
• Demonstrated flexibility and capability to work effectively in a changing environment.
• Current Victorian drivers licence.
• Computer skills – excellent working knowledge of MS applications.

*Please refer to salary circular for Allied Health Professionals (Victorian Public Sector) (Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement 2021 - 2026. for salary range. This role has been classified up to a Social Worker Grade 2 Year 4 SC24 classification or Community Development Worker Class 2B Year 7 ON15. Sub-grading will be based on years of experience.
