Position Summary

Peninsula Health Mental Health Service is committed to the principles of Recovery- Orientated Practice. We actively support and encourage consumer and carer participation in all aspects of planning and delivery of mental health services. Our passionate Adult Community Mental Health Team provide short term interventions for consumers experiencing an acute phase of mental illness as well as short-medium term treatment, case management and care interventions for people with prolonged mental illness.

The Community Mental Health Engagement Worker will help improve outcomes for consumers and their families/carers by helping to navigate mental health services, providing information to enable improved access to other services and freeing up clinicians to focus on their therapeutic work.

This is a brand new role in Peninsula health and an exciting pathway into mental health for newly registered health practitioners.

About You

We are looking for a dedicated person who is keen to develop a career within the Mental Health sector. You will have:

• Recent graduation (or soon to graduate) from a relevant health degree and relevant registration (Nursing, Occupational Therapists & Social Workers considered)
• Strong interest in developing a career in Mental Health
• Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the principles of Recovery Orientated practice in Mental Health Care
• Demonstrated working knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and standards

Selection Criteria Essential: Registered Nurse Grade 2 Year 1, Endorsed Enrolled Nurse Level 2 Year 1, Social Work Grade 1 or Occupational Therapist Grade 1 with relevant professional registration
Essential: Strong interest in mental health and well-being and a career in mental health sector.
Essential: Excellent communication skills
Essential: Computer literacy, including knowledge of Microsoft suite programs and internet
Essential: A high level of administrative, logistic, schedule management, organisational and time management skills
Essential: Full current Victorians drivers license
Essential: Ability to work as a team member and contribute team decisions, and willingness to take advice and direction.
