Position Summary

The Elective Surgery Clinical Coordinator works within the Department of Surgery – Elective Surgery Waiting List Office, which consists of the Elective Surgery Access Manager, Elective Surgery Clinical Coordinators and Booking Officers.

The role involves the organisation and management of the elective surgery waiting list to ensure that those referred for surgery and procedures are provided with care in a timely manner, in accordance with the Victorian Elective Surgery Access Policy. The role is collaborative and involves communication with a broad multi-disciplinary team to meet identified goals.


Key Responsibilities

• Work within the guidelines for waiting list management as per the Elective Surgery Access Policy.
• Ensure effective customer service delivered at all times
• Communicate effectively with all stakeholders involved in the surgical process
• Work closely with the relevant stakeholders
• Monitor and assist with reporting relevant and measurable Key Performance Indicators for elective surgery.
• Ensuring positive workplace behaviours and relationships


Essential Criteria

• Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration
• Demonstrated clinical knowledge and skills commensurate with relevant Nursing qualification
• Sound written communication skills
• Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills including excellent telephone manner.
• Ability to work unsupervised in a confidential environment.
