Position Summary

An exciting opportunity exists within the Surgical Services Suite for a passionate and dedicated Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) on a permanent full time basis.

As the NUM, your primary role will be to lead and mentor a team of nursing staff and other health professionals. You will have excellent interpersonal skills, a strong innovative leadership style and commitment to the provision of quality and evidence-based patient care.

You will work in close collaboration with the Scrub Scout NUM and provide support and mentoring to the ANUM regarding the daily activities of running the Suite including, staffing, equipment requirements and patient flow.

About our Surgical Services Suite

Our Team in the Surgical Services Suite works with passion to deliver world class healthcare for the local community. The Suite consists of an eight consult room admissions area, nine operating rooms including an endoscopy procedure room and a vascular hybrid theatre, and a three staged PACU.

In February of last year, we opened our Short Stay Theatre; a semi stand-alone theatre within the Surgical Services Suite. The theatre looks to treat high turnover, day and short stay procedures and consists of a theatre with set up room, a two bay PACU 1 and a seven bay PACU 2/3.


Essential Criteria

• Do you have a passion to lead, develop and educate a team of professionals?
• Do you have a talent for communicating ideas, issues and solutions in a team environment?
• Do you have Anaesthetic/PACU clinical experience within an Operating Suite environment?
• Do you have previous management experience?
• Do you pride yourself in your knowledge and understanding of Human Resources processes including recruitment and retention?
• Are you a wizard at rostering?
• Do you have sound knowledge around processes for capital expenditure, equipment repairs and procurement?
