Position Summary

We have a great opportunity for an enthusiastic Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) to join the team in the Child And Adolescent Unit. The Child and Adolescent Ward has 15 beds which caters for children from 0-16 years of age. We care for children with diverse medical needs and provide high acuity care when needed. Our surgical care includes orthopaedics, plastics, ENT, Maxfax and general paediatric surgery. We work closely with Special Care Nursery and the Emergency Department. We have strong links with the wider community and liaise closely with both Monash Children’s and RCH. All staff are supported with in house education and simulation centre learning.

Key Responsibilities

•Working collaboratively with the NUM, the ANUM assists with the leadership and management of the team to achieve high quality clinical care in accordance with evidence based practice standards and Peninsula Health Values.
•Assess, plan, implement, evaluate and document comprehensive nursing care within the area in accordance with evidence based best practice standards and Peninsula Health Values.
•Ensure the safety of the public, patients and staff in relation to the provision of a safe environment from both OH&S and Infection Control Perspectives.
•Works with the NUM to ensure all administrative functions are completed including the management of resources within the Unit.
•Assists the NUM to promote a culture of continuous service improvement within the Unit by monitoring standards of service and practice.
•Complete all mandatory training as per hospital policy and participate in organised training and development activities.
•In conjunction with the NUM ensures all staff have completed mandatory training and have active performance development plans.

Selection Criteria Essential: Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration
Essential: Professional nursing qualification including post graduate qualification in paediatric nursing
Essential: Prepares written documentation using clear, concise and grammatically correct language. •Clearly and confidently communicates with key contacts and welcomes constructive feedback. •Polite and considerate in dealing with others.
Desirable: Experience in a leadership or management role
