Peninsula Health is seeking an experienced, innovative and flexible Grade 3 Social Worker on a limited term full time until June 2019.

This is a dynamic, challenging and rewarding position, suited to a Social Worker with a commitment to Best Practice and provides an exciting opportunity for a Social Worker looking to develop their career in the health system. Peninsula Health has an Integrated Social Work service with opportunities for staff to gain experience across a range of service areas in acute/subacute care.

The successful applicant will demonstrate strong leadership skills, well developed organisational competencies, advanced supervision and advocacy skills and the ability to develop and support strong partnerships both within and external to Peninsula Health. The successful applicant will provide operational leadership of the social work team and attain key performance indicators within the framework of a “patient centred care” approach.

Applicants must be eligible for membership of the AASW, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, experience in working in a healthcare setting and demonstrated competence in health service management.

Key responsibilities:
•Provide quality focussed care, to patients and their families/carers through competent clinical assessment and discharge planning skills.
•Ability to utilise clinical knowledge and skills in program leadership and to identify opportunities for service improvement and innovation.
•Provide effective communication including a high level of verbal and nonverbal and documentation skills.
•Coordinate and contribute to allocated/agreed portfolios, quality projects and research activities
•Solid knowledge of health, aged care and relevant policy areas and of the service network.
•Significant demonstrated experience in staff and student supervision and ability to take on teaching and consultative roles in Social Work and the Hospital and committee work in the area of clinical specialisation, student teaching and other aspects of social work practice/ healthcare.
•Ability to assist the Head of Social Work and senior social work team in maximizing and developing the quality and efficiency of social work services and programs within the hospital and beyond.
•Establish and maintain strategic links and work effectively with internal and external stakeholders appropriate to this senior role.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
•Bachelor Degree of Qualifying Masters in Social Work (eligible for registration with AASW)
•Current Victorian Drivers Licence
•Extensive social work hospital experience

Desirable Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
• Post graduate social work qualifications in management/other related areas.
