Position Summary

The Health Information Manager/Clinical Coder Mental Health is accountable for the provision of coded patient data, participating in quality improvement activities, combined with maintaining professional links within Peninsula Health.

This position is across the mental health inpatient units including acute adult, aged persons and the Psychiatric Assessment and Planning Unit.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure timely and accurate completion of coded inpatient episodes
meeting internal and external coding deadlines
• Participate in an ongoing coding auditing program that improves coding
and optimises revenue results
• Duties/portfolios will be allocated according to level of knowledge and
experience

Essential Criteria

• Excellent knowledge of clinical coding principals and standards
• Understanding of the Victorian Casemix Funding Model
• Understanding of DHHS data reporting requirements ie VAED, CMI
• Understanding of DHHS Hospital Admission Policy
• Bachelor of Health Information Management or equivalent
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Recent clinical coding knowledge and experience using ICD10AM (10th
Edition)

Selection Criteria Essential: Bachelor of Health Information Management or equivalent
Essential: Recent clinical coding knowledge and experience using ICD10AM (10th Edition)
Essential: Understanding of the Victorian Casemix Funding Model
Essential: Understanding of DHHS data reporting requirements i.e. VAED, CMI
Essential: Excellent knowledge of clinical coding principals and standards
Desirable: Advanced computer skills and proficient in Windows applications particularly Word & Excel
