About Peninsula Health Peninsula Health provides public healthcare services to residents of the Mornington Peninsula.
Our hospitals and emergency departments are located at Frankston and Rosebud, and we provide a wide range of community health, dental, rehabilitation, mental health, palliative care ad aged care services from campuses at Frankston, Hastings, Mornington and Rosebud.

Position Summary Peninsula Health currently has an opportunity for an Aboriginal person and or Torres Strait Islander who is interested in joining our mental health service. This is a traineeship over three years as a full time employee whilst concurrently studying at Charles Sturt University via distance education and completing a three-year full time Bachelor of Health science, specialising in mental health. Ongoing employment on successful completion of both work place and university degree. We are looking for an applicant with an interest in improving the mental health and wellbeing of Aboriginal Victorians with willingness to share their expertise in Aboriginal understandings of health and wellbeing and to support the development of a culturally safe and responsive service
Key responsibilities • Work within scope of practice whilst employed a trainee • Undertake supervision with the Discipline Senior Social worker • Attend supervision with PH Cultural lead • Appropriate standard of behaviour and presentation • Contributes to Aboriginal Cultural Responsiveness • Work in accordance with all policies and procedures • Be patient and courteous to staff clients and carers/families • Complete formal studies whilst a trainee • Development of skills re mental health assessment, treatment and recovery • Work within PH Mental Health service model of care
Essential Criteria
• Must be of Aboriginal descent and able to provide confirmation • Interested in improving the mental health of Aboriginal Victorians • Eligible, willing and aptitude to undertake the Bachelor of Health Science at Charles Sturt University ( Wagga Wagga ) • Capacity to attend four one week residential intensives each year • Maintains satisfactory academic results • Demonstrates positive customer focus • Competency in written, verbal and electronic skills • Commitment to team based care • Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks effectively • Complete a police check Current drivers licence
