Position Summary
The Head of Unit – Rehabilitation Medicine will be a valued member of the leadership team at Peninsula Health Sub-Acute Services, committed to upholding values of the organisation and meeting our goals.
The Head of Unit will also provide leadership and direction for Rehabilitation Medicine across Peninsula Health and will have a vision for the future of Rehabilitation Medicine for Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula.

The successful candidate will have the ability to develop and expand clinical services, teaching, quality improvement and research and will act in a supervisory and mentoring capacity for Senior Medical Staff, Registrars, Hospital Medical Officers(HMOs), Interns and medical students.

The Head of Unit will ensure delivery of safe, evidenced-based person centred care to a defined group of patients and clients within their scope of practice. This role will have a strong relationship with the acute sector of medicine, other subacute services and aged persons’ mental health

Key Responsibilities
• Provide leadership and direction for clinical services in rehabilitation medicine.
• Ensure the Service provides the highest quality of care, is person-centred, works at maximum efficiency and within established budgets to meet patient demand.
• Ensure service integration across sub-acute services, and with acute services within Peninsula Health and its catchment area.
• Be aware of and work in accordance with organisational policies and procedures, Enterprise Agreements and relevant workplace legislation.
• Demonstrates positive workplace behaviours and relationships at all times.

Essential Criteria
• Medical Practitioner Registered in Victoria.
• Extensive experience as a Specialist (this would typically mean 5 years)
• Fellowship qualifications in Rehabilitation Medicine
• Relevant track record and experience in clinical management.
• Sound clinical knowledge, skills and experience in contemporary medical and evidence based practice.
• Strong Leadership Skills
• Demonstrated working knowledge and understanding of the relevant EBA
• Ability to work as an effective member of a clinical management team
