What You Will Be Doing

Locum Paediatric Endocrinologist for Diabetes Service
A locum position for a Paediatric Endocrinologist for the Diabetes service at Peninsula Health is available for the next 6 – 12 months.
The position for provision of ambulatory care of children with diabetes. And may included the supervision of in-patient care for either newly diagnosed patients or patients requiring stabilisation.
The position would be for 2 sessions each week to cover the multi-disciplinary clinic is held every Thursday morning as well as the commencement of patients on insulin pump therapy. The position would include clinical, face to face patient time as well as ongoing upskilling of other clinical staff.

What You Need

The successful candidate must demonstrate strong educational skills as well as ability to work in a multi- disciplinary team. Within the diabetic ambulatory care setting there is an established allied health team, including dietitian, social worker, psychologist and diabetic nurse educators. There are also plans to develop a nursing educator role across both in and outpatients services to strengthen the continuity of care for many families.
The successful applicant may be expected to assist with the development of a model of care for the paediatric diabetes service at Frankston to encompass new innovations within diabetes care as well as to develop a close working relationship with the acute paediatric service. The model of care will be developed in consultation with the Clinical director of paediatrics. The position has no after hours / on call component.

Selection Criteria Essential: •Medical Practitioner Registered in Australia. •FRACP ( Paediatrics) •Relevant experience in management of diabetes in the paediatric/ adolescent population. •Sound clinical knowledge, skills and experience in contemporary medical and evidence based practice in diabetes, including new technology
Desirable: •Supervision and mentoring of junior medical staff and other health workers. •Completion of APLS, or similar
