What You Will Be Doing

Peninsula Health has a fixed term full or part time position for a Disability Liaison Officer (DLO) Clinical Lead who will support people with disability to co-ordinate and access health care services (including COVID-19 testing and vaccination facilities). This position works within a DLO team and reports operationally to the Disability Liaison and Assessment Team Leader based within Peninsula Health.

The primary function of the Clinical DLO is to:
• To provide clinical expertise to people with a disability within our local community
help people with disability, their families and carers access testing for COVID-19 and vaccination.
•support people with disability, their families and carers to connect with other health supports
•undertake outreach where there is evidence that people with disability are not accessing testing services or other hospitals services because of fear of exposure and infection, or uncertainty about how the service will operate
•undertake targeted outreach for people with disability who may be less likely to use health services
• Supervise and support DLO clinicians with lower classifications

This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to build key relationships in the region and make vital decisions for a vulnerable population in critical need of support. Flexibility, resourcefulness, and versatility are essential qualities for the success of this role.

What You Need

We anticipate you will have:
• A relevant graduate qualification in Allied Health or Nursing
• Strong understanding of how disability can impact a person’s life in the community.
• Ability to anticipate key risks affecting the person living with a disability and respond
accordingly.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the range of general and specialist service options available to people with a disability including but not limited to: physical, emotional and mental health, accommodation, legal matters, employment and education.
• Understanding of the National Disability Insurance Scheme
• Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with key stakeholders within and external to an organisation.
• Demonstrated competence in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and the internet
• Victorian Driver’s license
