Position Summary A vacancy exists at Peninsula Health in the Mental Health Service located on the Mornington Peninsula based at Rosebud Hospital and at Frankston Clinic on a Permanent Part Time and Fixed term Part Time basis. The Mental Health Clinician is a valued and integral member of the PHMHS multidisciplinary team demonstrating flexibility in caring for patients and their families across the organisation.
The Mental Health Clinician, as a member of the multidisciplinary team, provides timely and responsive mental health assessment and treatment to people who require urgent, short term or ongoing intensive community based mental health assessment, treatment and support.
Key Responsibilities • Assess, plan, implement, evaluate and document comprehensive care in accordance with evidence based best practice standards and Peninsula Health Values. • Ensure services are provided to those most in need, based on clinical priority and eligibility. • Work competently within scope of practice to deliver safe, evidence based person centred care to achieve optimal health outcomes.
Essential Criteria • Nursing: Registered Nurse with appropriate post basic qualification in mental health nursing who are eligible for registration with AHPRA • Social Work: Approved degree in social work with eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers • Occupational Therapy: A degree or diploma from a recognised School of Occupational Therapy and eligibility for membership of OT Australia who are eligible for registration with AHPRA. • Demonstrated commitment to delivering high quality outcomes for consumers. • Demonstrated clinical knowledge and skills commensurate with experience. • Compliance with other relevant legislation • A current Victorian Drivers Licence • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team. • Able to use basic computer software applications. • Prepare written documentation using clear, concise and grammatically correct language. • Takes responsibility for own actions and is proactive and self-starting. • Demonstrated working knowledge of the Victorian Mental Health Act 2014, including: the mental health principles, the protection of rights (including working with Nominated Persons and Advance Statements), the compulsory treatment framework, capacity and informed consent, restrictive interventions, and the Mental Health Tribunal. • Demonstrated knowledge of the National Standards for Mental Health Services and the Australian Council of Healthcare Standards including EQuIP • Extensive experience in the mental health field including acute inpatient services and/or community mental health care • Working knowledge of discipline specific legislation relevant to clinical practice
