Position Summary

Peninsula Health Neurology Department has a current consultant staff of 6 VMO Neurologists. We have a Neurology ward which includes a dedicated stroke unit. Peninsula Health provides acute stroke thrombolysis, a number of neurology outpatient clinics as well as inpatient and outpatient neurophysiology services. Peninsula Health has a visiting neurosurgery service from the Alfred Hospital. The successful applicant should be a Fellow of the RACP. The applicant will have the opportunity to help guide the Department as Peninsula Health expands Neurology services for both in-patients and out-patients, with a focus of further development of the epilepsy service and outpatient clinic

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Medical clinician delivers safe, evidenced based person centred care to a defined group of patients and clients within their scope of practice.
They also act in a supervisory and mentoring capacity for Registrars, Hospital Medical Officers (HMOs), Medical officers, Senior Medical Officers, medical students and their allocated patients.

The Senior Medical Clinician will complete unit ward rounds at an appropriate time that allows for JMS and ward staff to attend to the patient requirements for care and management. When on-call be available at all times to the hospital staff to assist with the patient care path and planning for assessment. Attend outpatient clinics, department and unit meetings when required, and teaching, when required, of Junior and student Medical Staff

• Specialist experience
• sound clinical knowledge, skills and experience in EBM
• work as a team member of a multidisciplinary clinical team
• teaching experience
