Position Summary

An exciting opportunity exists for a Family Violence Service Case Worker to work within the Community Health team. This is a part time temporary position (0.8 EFT), located in Frankston, with Outreach across the Mornington Peninsula Shire and City of Frankston. Staff may be required to work across other Community Health sites to meet program needs.

Applications are sought from experienced counsellors who have appropriate qualifications and experience. Knowledge of trauma intervention, including family violence, is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide case work support to male perpetrators referred to Peninsula Health Family Violence.
• Liaise with relevant support services and workers to assist male perpetrators to take responsibility for their own social and emotional issues, whilst continuing to hold them accountable for their violent behaviours.
• Ensure effective and appropriate, clinically informed support and service options are provided to clients at all times.
• Promote and practice respectful relating and non-violence
• Demonstrate positive workplace behaviours and relationships at all times.
• Build and expand personal skill levels and ensure that clients receive service reflecting up to date, evidence based professional practice.

Selection Criteria Essential: Relevant Bachelor degree qualification in Social Work, welfare studies, psychology or other relevant discipline
Essential: Demonstrated expertise in psycho-social assessment and interventions with diverse clients.
Essential: Computer skills – excellent working knowledge of MS Windows, Excel, Outlook and the Internet
Essential: Highly developed skills in working with complex clients including defusing, self-management and reflective practice.
Essential: Current Victorian drivers licence and a satisfactory police check.
Essential: Familiarity with the key underpinning legislation including the Privacy Act, Health Records Act, Children, Youth and Family Act, Family Violence Act
Desirable: Demonstrated commitment to putting into practice the core values/principles of the social model of health.
