Position Summary
The position is for ACEM late phase advanced trainees. The post help prepare the candidate for both fellowship and specialist practice in Emergency medicine. The post is accredited by ACEM for advanced training. The term is usually for one year and may be renewed on a case by case basis. Principal Registrars are given the opportunity to learn and practise a wide range of acute skills, diagnostic skills and develop an appreciation and extension of current knowledge.

Key Responsibilities
• To provide high quality clinical care to patients.
• To assist the Director and Staff Specialists in the care and management of presentations.
• To supervise Registrars, Residents and Interns allocated to the Department
• Participate in educational and clinical and quality audit activities
• Deliver acute care to patients within the hospital under supervision and assist senior staff in these matters.
• They are primarily responsible for the care of patients and developing skills in supervising Junior Medical Staff and in ED Management.

Essential Criteria
• Basic medical degree
• Registration as a Medical Practitioner in Australia or special registration to be employed as a doctor in Australia
• Final year advanced training ACEM
• Relevant Non ED rotations, (Paediatrics and ICU or Anaesthetics.)
• Ability to manage Emergency Department as the senior doctor in charge.

Selection Criteria Essential: MB BS or equivalent.
