Peninsula Health is looking for a dynamic Cardiologist to join the Cardiology Team at Peninsula Health Heart Service in the capacity of Interventional Cardiologist.

The position includes a regular catheterisation laboratory session, ward service, a one-night-a-week and one-in-five-weekend STEMI service call, and 2 Cardiology outpatient clinics per week.

The successful applicant will have medical registration for Victoria, specialist recognition for Cardiology, completed an Interventional Cardiology fellowship and preferably a MD/PhD. The ability to work in a team environment and high quality care will be valued.

Peninsula Health has plans to start a structural heart program for management of ASD and PFO and training in this would be advantageous. Peninsula Health Heart Service is a rapidly expanding team of highly skilled and experienced Cardiologists, comprising a mix of full-time and VMO consultants, employed by Peninsula Health to provide Cardiac care to the Mornington Peninsula and beyond. The facilities at Peninsula Health include a dedicated 4 room out-patient Cardiac Clinic Suite, extensive in-patient and out-patient echo service including stress, contrast and trans-oesophageal echo, treadmill stress testing, a dedicated new Siemens Coronary Angiography Suite and a large in-patient Cardiac ward with CCU. Note should be made that there are no facilities for TAVI at Peninsula Health and an appointment at a Tertiary Cardiac Centre with TAVI facilities for the successful applicant is required.
The Cardiology Clinic will be booked and run as per the requirements of the successful applicant (within reason) and remunerated as per the current Award on a per hour basis.
It is anticipated that the successful applicant will commence once the Health Service Consultant appointment process has been completed.
