What You Will Be Doing

We are seeking a highly motivated speech pathologist with a passion for working with consumers in their home or community environment.This position is available short term from March until July and provides clinical cover for a secondment

Outreach speech pathology assists eligible HACC and CHSP clients by providing home and/or centre based assessment and intervention for clients who have a progressive or chronic condition affecting swallowing or communication and who have goals relating to improving their independence, safety, level of function and life participation.

You will be working with clients from various socio-economic and cultural backgrounds in a variety of settings including the home, supported accommodation, and the community. Interpreter services are readily available to promote client-centred practice.

About The Allied Health Outreach service

The Allied Health Outreach service is a HACC and Commonwealth funded program providing service across the beautiful Frankston and Mornington Peninsula Local Government Areas. The team is integrated across Community Health Centres on the Peninsula, and consists of 26 staff including 16 occupational therapists, 6 physiotherapists, 1 speech pathologist, an allied health assistant and a carpenter.

We have a management team consisting of a Program Manager and two Team Leaders.
We provide a caring, supportive and dynamic team environment to assist staff to develop their skillset and own personal development. Our team vision is “Working together with people in the community, to enhance their independence and wellbeing at home”. In particular, we dedicate time to orientate new staff, teach new processes, and provide individual support to clinicians.

Selection Criteria Essential: Current or eligible for practicing membership of Speech Pathology Australia
Essential: Demonstrated excellence in adult community based Speech Pathology service provision in accordance with person-centred care principles
Essential: An understanding of Peninsula Health Community Health principles and values.
Essential: Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with clients, families and multidisciplinary teams
Essential: Demonstrated effective time management and organisational skills and ability to work unsupervised in the community
Essential: Commitment to Continuing Professional Development and associated evidence based practice
Essential: Current Victorian driver’s license
Essential: Commitment to multidisciplinary team collaboration
Desirable: Experience and expertise in the provision of Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) options
Desirable: Experience in working with people with progressive neurological disorders
