Position Summary

The ward 5GS is a 30 bed unit which is the home ward for Neurology and General Medicine patients. The Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) 5GS is a valued member of the leadership team at Peninsula Health, committed to upholding Peninsula Health’s values and meeting organisational goals.

The ANUM supports the Nurse Unit Manger (NUM) and when required acts in their role to provide effective leadership and management of the Unit/Department. They are responsible for the operational oversight of 5GS. The ANUM works with the NUM to oversee the delivery of safe, evidence based, person centred care to achieve optimal health outcomes or a dignified death.

To ensure clinical safety and continuity of patient centred care there is a requirement that all ANUM positions be a minimum of 0.6 EFT per fortnight

Key Responsibilities

• Working collaboratively with the NUM, the ANUM assists with the leadership and management of the team to achieve high quality clinical care in accordance with evidence based practice standards and Peninsula Health Values
• Ensures the safety of the public, patients and staff in relation to the provision of relevant Acts (OH&S, & Infection Control) and Peninsula Health Policies.
• Works with the NUM to ensure all administrative functions are completed including the management of resources within the Unit/Department.
• Assists the NUM to promote a culture of continuous service improvement within the Unit/Department by monitoring standards of service and practice.
• In conjunction with the NUM ensures all staff have completed mandatory training and have active performance development plans.

Essential Criteria

• Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration
• Prepares written documentation using clear, concise and grammatically correct language.
• Clearly and confidently communicates with key contacts and welcomes constructive feedback.
• Polite and considerate in dealing with others.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
• Supports individuals and the team, delegating responsibilities appropriately.
• Understands the issues and pressures to which the organisation has to respond.
• Seeks all relevant information for problem solving.
• Identifies and supports where necessary the need for change
• Uses a range of software application features for word processing, spread sheets etc.
• Accepts responsibilities for own actions.
