Around 3000 women give birth at Peninsula Health every year. We care for a socioeconomically diverse range of high and low risk pregnant women. Women at high risk are cared for through the Complex Pregnancy Clinic and the Fetal Diagnostic Service, which provides tertiary level ultrasound services and invasive diagnostic procedures. In addition we provide acute and perioperative gynaecological services including general gynaecology, advanced laparoscopy, oncology and urogynaecological procedures. Ambulatory care is provided through outpatient hysteroscopy, colposcopy, urogynaecology and sexual health clinics. Peninsula Health is a primary training site for Core and Advanced RANZCOG trainees, with rotations through to rural and tertiary centres.

This position will provide general obstetric and gynaecological services according to local, national and international standards, with an interest in providing education support to RANZCOG trainees, registrars, medical students and midwives.

What You Will Be Doing

• Provide antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care.
• Provide gynaecological services including acute, outpatient, surgical and perioperative care.
• Training, supervision and coordination of education for RANZCOG trainees
• Provide education and support to registrars, HMOs, medical students and midwives
• Work closely with Women’s Health medical, midwifery, allied health and support staff.
• Participating in Safety & Quality activities of the department including risk management, incident reporting and reviews, guideline development and audit.


What You Need

• Medical Practitioner registered and permanently resident in Australia.
• FRANZCOG or awarded Fellowship by commencement date.
• A high standard of clinical knowledge, skills and experience in contemporary O&G and evidence- based practice.
• Ability to work as an effective member of a multidisciplinary clinical team
• Ability to bill Medicare for services


Desirable Criteria

• Demonstrated experience and skills in theoretical and practical education including coordination and delivery of educational programs in obstetrics and gynaecology.
• Experience in accurate documentation of information in electronic medical records.
• Experience in patient safety and quality activities including guideline development, audit, case reviews and morbidity and mortality meetings.
• Qualifications or evidence of further training in education.
• Experience in research and publication in peer-reviewed journals.
• Ability to participate in on-call cover
