What You Will Be Doing

Access and Assessment Team clinicians conduct face-to-face holistic assessments in our Frankston, Mornington and Rosebud community clinics as well as in the client’s home. Mental health assessments and treatment is provided to people who require urgent, short term or ongoing intensive community based support.

As a member of this multidisciplinary team your skills will be utilised within both the assessment and the telephone triage service, triaging and reviewing the mental health status of clients. You will receive support, supervision, a comprehensive orientation program, study leave and professional development opportunities. You will work across a 7 day rotating roster with the option of part time or full time to suit your lifestyle. Permanent roles available and short-term contracts considered.

What You Need

We anticipate you will have:
• Registration as a Registered Nurse, Social Worker, OT or Clinical Psychologist
• Post graduate qualification in Mental Health or specialist undergraduate Mental Health program (Registered Nurse only)
• Extensive experience in the mental health field including acute in-patient services and/or community mental health care

Frankston Hospital Expansion

The redevelopment will transform services at the hospital – delivering a new 12-storey clinical services tower and main entrance, an additional 130 beds, new spaces for mental health and oncology services and a state-of-the-art theatre suite.

With more families choosing to make Frankston home, the bigger and better Frankston Hospital will also deliver expanded women’s and children’s services, including new maternity, obstetrics and paediatric wards, a women’s clinic and a special care nursery.

Once completed, the bigger and better hospital will have the capacity to treat approximately 35,000 more patients each year – cutting wait times and reducing pressure on other Melbourne hospitals.

Selection Criteria Essential: Are you a qualified and Registered, with relevant National Board (Clinical psychology for Psychologist; Mental Health nursing qualification such as a post graduate qualification in psychiatric/mental health nursing or a specialist undergraduate psychiatric/mental health nursing program)?
Essential: Can you demonstrate clinical knowledge and skills commensurate with experience, including extensive and recent experience in the mental health field including acute inpatient services and/or community mental health care?
Essential: Do you have proven ability in the management of clients with a major mental illness and in the techniques of assessment, crisis intervention, counselling and psychosocial rehabilitation?
